FTV unveils new serial costume drama at press conference (2014/03/04)

A press conference was held today by FTV to announce its latest serial costume drama. After a year of filming, FTV General Manager Chen Gang-sin hoped the drama would promote Taiwan's culture and heritage.

FTV General Manager Chen Gang-sin led a hundred cast members to introduce the station’s first serial costume drama to be launched in the last 10 years.

We describe this drama as being set in Taipei’s Dadaocheng between the years of 1868 and 1888. We want to show the Taiwan’s international metropolis at the time, Taipei’s Dadaocheng, and allow viewers to learn a little more about the scenery, the costumes, and implements, windows, and doors. All of this has been recreated. FTV bravely undertook the challenge of being the only television station in Taiwan to accept such an enormous task.

Returning Dadaocheng to its former glory cost a total of NT$60 million, a large sum which FTV believed would ultimately benefit the larger Taiwan community.

The goal of our drama is not to make money, as before shooting began we spent NT$60 million. This production aims to create roots for Taiwan culture and heritage. Occupying an important role in Taiwan’s cultural industries, we hope to preserve this period of Taiwanese history and allow it to develop roots. This took great effort.

In addition to helping preserve Taiwan’s cultural heritage, the drama also showcased local martial arts. Each actor worked hard to master this as part of their performance.

Those who viewed this drama for the first time at today’s press conference praised the series as high-quality content that aims to preserve true Taiwanese culture.

龍飛用心深

花費一年拍攝的最新古裝大戲，今天舉行試片記者會，為了呈現大稻程的昔日風華，光是搭景就花了六千萬以上，民視總經理陳剛信強調這齣戲絕非為了賺錢，而是希望讓台灣文化能夠紮根與傳承。

民視總經理陳剛信，帶領近百位劇組演員們，向全國介紹，睽違10年後，終於又有古裝大戲要上檔。

“我們這個戲就是在描述，1868到1888年的台北大稻埕，把當時的台灣國際都市台北大稻程，能夠讓觀眾多多少少知道一點，從場景、服裝、道具、窗戶、門片，你都全部要重新做，所以我們民視就自己搭景，全台灣沒有一家電視台有這種傻勁，敢去做這種事情’

光呈現大稻埕的昔日風華，所搭建場景就花了六千萬，但電視台願意砸重金，絕非把利益把再第一位。

“我們這戲並不是抱著要賺錢的心情，因為這齣戲還沒開拍，就花了六千萬下去，這齣戲也真的是整個台灣文化的紮根和傳承，身為文化產業的主其事者，對這種台灣過去年代的斷代史，應該有它的一些紮根，應該有它的一些努力，所以我們才會拍這個戲”

除了傳承文化，精彩的武打動作，也是一大亮點，每個男演員們都苦練武術。

不只呈現優質內容，也要讓國人了解真正的台灣文化，參與試片會的民眾，看完影片都讚不絕口。
