With over 100 hot springs island-wide, Taiwan has not only one of the highest concentrations of natural springs but also a staggering variety, including hot, cold, mud and seabed springs.

台灣擁有超過一百座溫泉，不但天然湧泉的密度名列世界前茅，種類之多也令人咋舌，包括溫泉、冷泉、泥泉 與海底溫泉。

Most tourists who are short on time naturally gravitate to the springs at Xinbeitou or Wulai, which are easily accessed from downtown Taipei. However, as seasoned veterans can tell you, there are some springs that combine soothing waters with stunning situations. Here are a few bathing holes that are perfect for a winter wallow.

多數時間有限的遊客，通常會被容易從台北市區抵達的新北投或烏來溫泉所吸引。不過，經驗豐富的老手會 告訴你，有些溫泉結合令人舒緩的泉水與絕美地點。以下這幾座湯池正適合冬季泡澡。

Southern Miaoli County is renowned for its lush, mountainous landscape and this splendid setting helps make Taian Township’s hot spring area a particular treat. In addition to the main, well-developed resort at Taian, there are springs at Hushan, Tenglong and neighboring Dahu Township, all of which spring from the same source. Some of these are little more than shallow, freshly dug pits, giving them a real backwoods feel.
