An analysis by the Office for National Statistics commissioned by Public Health England shows that amongst women, the risk of suicide is 23 percent higher for nurses than the national average, and 42 percent higher for primary school teachers.

英國公共衛生部委託國家統計局進行的分析顯示，在女性之中，護士的自殺率比全國平均值高出23％，小學教師則高出42％。

For women working in culture, media and sport, the figure shoots up to 69 percent.

在文化、媒體、運動領域工作的女性，這個數字更飆升至69％。

Among men, low-skilled laborers in construction have a risk that is three times higher than the average for the country while men in skilled construction jobs also have an increased risk.

在男性中，建築領域低技術性勞工的自殺率，比全國平均高出3倍，即便是具技術性的建築類工作，自殺風險也較高。

Care workers of both genders face a suicide risk that is almost twice the national average.

從事照護工作的男女性，都面臨將近全國平均值2倍的自殺風險。

"Suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50, and more women are taking their own lives each year," said Duncan Selbie, chief executive of Public Health England.

英國公共衛生部執行長塞爾拜說：「50歲以下男性的死亡原因中，自殺名列前茅，而且每年有愈來愈多女性選擇結束自己的生命。」

He said that he was urging employers, "large or small, public or private sector to treat mental health as seriously as physical health."

他表示，他一直敦促所有老闆，「不管規模大小、公立或私立單位，都要把心理健康和身體健康看得一樣重要。」
