明登太平島
為了宣示主權，國防委員會的立委，四日要登上太平島，引起朝野各界關注，國民黨立委林郁方坦承，美國的確有來關心，不過還是堅持要去維護主權，民進黨立委陳亭妃，更呼籲馬總統，應該帶頭登島才對，不過要不要親自登上太平島，馬總統沒有回應，倒是再度提出東海和平倡議，呼籲各國要和平處理釣魚台爭議。
馬總統親自為外交國際事務學院揭牌，讓台灣外交人員的養成，增加更多的資源，因為外交上，挑戰越來越多，尤其最近日本對釣魚台動作頻頻。

相較於對釣魚台只是不斷喊話，對南沙的太平島，政府主動的多，不但派出國安會秘書長胡為真9月1日親自登島，朝野立委也打算在4日到太平島慰勞國軍，下一個登島的，會不會就是馬總統。
雖然總統沒有回應，但立委不分朝野都希望他能夠親自登上太平島，用行動來宣示主權，否則喊出再多的倡議，也只是紙上談兵。
To reaffirm a sovereignty claim by Taiwan, a group of legislators from the National Defense Committee plans to land on Taiping Island tomorrow. The lawmakers are urging President Ma Ying-jeou to likewise visit. President Ma personally inaugurated the Institute of Foreign Affairs, allowing Taiwan the opportunity to develop diplomatic personnel as well as provide them with more resources. Diplomatic challenges have increased in recent years, most notably disputes with the Japanese over the Tiaoyutai Islands.

For East Asia, I proposed on Aug. 5 the East China Sea Peace Initiative, which in principle would allow us to affirm sovereignty while also reaching a consensus to shelve disputes. We could reach a peaceful, mutually beneficial relationship and develop the territory together.
Compared to the noisy rhetoric over the Tiaoyutai Islands, the Taiping Island have generated more action and less talk. Hu Wei-chen, secretary-general of the National Security Council, landed on the island on Sept. 1. Ruling and opposition legislators plan to land on the island on Tuesday, and some speculate that the island’s next visitor could be President Ma.
President Ma hasn’t responded to these suggestions, though there has been no shortage of others visiting the island to proclaim sovereignty.
