馬蘭嶼勘災

蘭嶼達悟族，領教怪颱天秤的威力，馬總統今天一早就前往蘭嶼勘災，當地居民跟總統訴苦，直呼30年都沒遇過這麼恐怖的颱風，當地房屋、船隻、農物都有毀損，希望政府伸出援手，總統當場承諾，會從優補助。

馬總統搭直升機飛到蘭嶼，進行勘災，驚人景象在眼前，農會超市被強風破壞，鐵皮骨架整個垮了，巨浪更捲來大量礁石，就擋在路上，農會超市面目全非。

當地居民訴說，天秤颱風來，蘭嶼像是要天崩地裂，颱風過後，木材、鐵皮、碎石布滿地，垃圾桶東倒西歪。朗島部落的朗島國小，本來校舍屋頂，有達悟族圖騰，風災後，圖騰屋頂也被吹掀。

當地災情經過統計，房屋6樓全毀，13棟半毀，100多艘船，其中全毀31艘、半毀72艘，還有15艘失蹤，而馬總統也承諾從優補助。

Residents of Orchid Island have a long road ahead as they rebuild businesses and homes destroyed by Typhoon Tembin. Today President Ma Ying-jeou pledged full support on his first trip to the outlying island following the storm.

President Ma Ying-jeou took a helicopter to Orchid Island today to assess typhoon damage. What he saw was shocking. A destroyed produce market, a toppled metal frame building and coral washed onto roads by massive waves.

Locals say it seemed like Typhoon Tembin was going to break their island apart. After the storm passed, wood, metal and broken stones covered the streets. Garbage cans were strewn about. Lang-Tao Elementary School originally had a Yami totem pole on its roof, but it was blown apart.

This was the largest typhoon (to strike Orchid Island) in years. We will act quickly and flexibly to provide generous subsidies to assist in rebuilding.

Six buildings were destroyed in the storm and 13 were damaged. Also 31 boats were destroyed, 72 were damaged and 15 are missing.
