1. Don’t be so salty.

（Ｘ）別那麼鹹。

（Ｏ）不要那麼敏感／不要那麼生氣。

Salty字面上的意思是「鹹」，在日常對話中，講一個人對小事過於敏感或容易惱火，就可以用salty。有一點幽默、輕描淡寫的意味。這個字在社群也常見，有人會把它譯成「酸民」，酸更多是指見不得別人好，而salty更多是生氣、敏感、為小事而不快。很熟的朋友生氣時，有時我們會說 ：

Now, don’t be so salty. Relax. 算了，不要那麼生氣了。心境放寬點兒。

來看個情境例句：

3. Worth your salt

(X) 你的鹽值得這個價錢。

(O) 有價值或有能力的人。

"Worth your salt"是指「有能力、值回票價」。過去，鹽是一種非常有價值的商品，甚至經常用來發工資。形容人"worth their salt"，這意味著他「非常擅長自己的工作」。例如：

• Any employee worth their salt would go the extra mile to get the job done right. 有能力的員工都會全力以赴，把工作做好。

4. Back to the salt mines
