Shaky 2nd Appearance
Taiwanese pitcher Yang Yao-hsun’s second spring training game didn’t go as well as his first. Appearing in relief for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Yang pitched one inning. Besides giving up a hit, he struck two batters and delivered a bases loaded walk. Despite the shaky appearance, the Pirates still beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1.

Ni Pitches for Dodgers
Another Taiwanese pitcher making an appearance on Sunday was Ni Fu-te of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ni faced two batters over a third of an inning. He threw nine pitches, didn’t give up a run, and successfully held the San Diego Padres at bay. The game ended in a 3-3 tie.

Wang Discusses 1st Appearance
A day earlier Wang Chien-ming made his first appearance in relief for the Cincinnati Reds. Wang pitched two innings and struck out two, but also gave up a run and five hits. In an interview today, Wang said that he’s trying his best with every pitch he throws. Even if he doesn’t make the opening day roster, Wang hopes to take advantage of every opportunity the Reds give him.
