Later arrival of Lunar New Year means unusual schedule for local students (2014/03/03)

In 2015, Lunar New Year’s Eve will fall on the relatively late date of Feb. 18. This has led to unusual scheduling for schools. Many students will start their new semester for one week before going on a 27-day break. 

Next Year, Lunar New Year's Eve will arrive on Feb. 18. This means that winter vacation for school children needs to be extended a week longer.

We have decided to make adjustments to the 2015 winter holiday, which has been changed from Jan. 28 to Feb. 17. 

When adding the Lunar New Year Holiday, junior high and elementary school students will have a total of 27 days of consecutive holiday. To avoid any impact on courses in the following semester, the Ministry of Education has decided to start the new semester one week before the holiday.

The textbooks have already been printed. The question now is how to distribute these materials early and how to make courses continuous. We are considering recommending homework for the following semester over winter vacation.

The changes to winter break is not only affecting the schedule for elementary and junior high school students. The Joint College Entrance Examination Center announced that it had to comply with the ministry’s decision, and move the date of the test from Jan. 25 to the beginning of February.

寒假延後放

因為今年閏九月(兩個九月)的關係，除夕落在明年陽曆的2月18號，相當的晚，連帶使得寒假不得不往後延一個星期，從1月28號放到2月123號，學生可連放27天。但是放假前，得先上一個星期下學期課程。除了高中以下放假受影響，大學學測也從1月25號，延後到2月3號舉行。

明年除夕特別的晚，落在2月18號，使得寒假不得不往後延一星期。

加上春節假期，國中小學學生總共可放27天，未免影響到下學期的課程，教育部決定，學生放假前，得先上一個禮拜下學期的課。

“原先的書就是印好了，現在只是提前配送的問題，有考慮到整個課程的延續性，所以基本上 我們會在寒假作業，就出一些跟下學期有關的課程”

寒假順延不只影響到國中小學上課時間，連大考中心也宣布，大學學測日期將配合教育部決議，從原先的1月25日，順延到2月1日至3日。
