1- 如何撰寫吸引人的英文自傳

　　準備一份針對欲申請科系所寫的自傳，除了當備審資料外，面談時若需用英文作自我介紹，更可使你言之有物，條理分明。理想的自傳長度是200～300字，內容可參考以下要點：

3 書信的結尾敬辭在什麼情況下應使用 “Yours faithfully”，又在什麼情況下應使用 “Yours sincerely” 呢?

　　最後，根據 New York Public Library Writer’s Guide to Style and Usage，開頭的稱呼中每個字都要大寫，而結尾敬辭中的第一個字要大寫，且在末尾要有一個逗點，如 “Yours faithfully,”，”Best regards,”。再者，”Yours…” 的敬辭也可以倒過來寫，如 “Yours faithfully”→“Faithfully yours” (注意：”Yours faithfully” 沒有 “Yours very faithfully” 的寫法)，”Yours very sincerely”→“Very sincerely yours”，”Yours ever”→“Ever yours”。

　　當書信開頭的稱呼使用某人的姓氏時，如 “Dear Mr. Obama”，”My Dear Mr. Johnson”，那麼就要使用 “Yours sincerely” — 這是相識者之間最適宜的結尾敬辭，即使在商業書信中亦越來越流行 (越來越多的商業書信或正式信函，在以 “Dear Sir/Madam” 稱呼時，以 “Yours sincerely” 做敬辭)；你也可以使用 “Yours very Sincerely” 來表示更親切的意思。至於很熟悉的人之間，如 “Dear Lily”，相對應的結尾敬辭為 “Kind regards”，”Best regards” — 此用法也表明是私人信函。如果是很要好的朋友，如 “Dear Mary” 或 “My Dear Mary”，則可使用 “Yours ever” 或 “As ever” — 這種用法僅適用於很要好的朋友，意為「你永遠的朋友」。

Support For Lin’s Hunger Strike (2014/04/24)

The DPP mobilized 3,000 people this evening in a show of support for former DPP Chairman Lin Yi-hsiung. Lin is on a hunger strike to pressure the government into stopping work on the Fourth Nuclear Power Plant. Participants held hands, starting from Gikong Church located on Xinyi Road Section 3 and stretching all the way to Ketagalan Boulevard.

Former Health Minister Yeh Ching-chuan spoke about the merits of Taiwan’s national health insurance system to members of the US Senate. In the process he became the first former Cabinet-level official from Taiwan to testify at a US Senate hearing. 

FDA to require disclosure of the role chefs play in making foods they advertise (2014/03/12)

Enlisting celebrated chefs to promote everything from cakes to ready-to-eat meals is a popular marketing technique. But some consumers feel they are being cheated because these cooking masters often contribute little to actual production of these rather mundane foods. The Food and Drug Administration plans to change that by requiring full disclosure of the role these spokespeople play.
