Taipei International Book Exhibition opens and invites independent bookstores (2014/02/05)

The Taipei International Book Exhibition opened today. While a number of independent bookstores joined the fair, there was intense competition from a comic and animation festival in Nangang. 

This year’s Taipei International Book Fair takes on a unique flavor, as one can enjoy a cup of coffee and peruse books in great comfort. This, in fact, is due to independent bookstores joining the exhibition for the first time this year.

In principle, we are simply displaying these books and not selling them because they are being sold by various publishers. We don’t need to sell at this fair as we simply want to create the atmosphere of a bookstore.

Nine different independent bookstores rented a 20 ping space and will pay rent of NT$300,000 for the six days of the exhibit. They hope to use this space to create an environment for reading books.

One of the major attractions of the book exhibition each year are the comics. However, this year, the Taipei International Comics and Animation Festival is concurrently running at the Taipei World Trade Center’s Nangang Exhibition Hall. The scale of this event, which is bigger than the book fair, has meant less of a crowd this year.

The Nangang exhibition began before us, so some limited edition items have already sold out. Over here, we have more stock.

The Taipei International Book Exhibition will run for a total of six days at the Taipei World Trade Center’s Hall 1 and Hall 3.

台北國際書展開幕，今年不只邀請亞洲國家出版社參加，還有宣揚美好閱讀生活的"獨立書店"，也首次來參展，至於往年總為書展帶來人潮的動漫展，改為"動漫區"，規模縮小為五分之一，要跟台北動漫節打對台。

濃濃香味的咖啡，旁邊還有書香做搭配，台北國際書展，可以一邊看書一邊喝咖啡，原來這是首次參展的獨立書店。

9家獨立書店承租20坪的空間，六天租金要30萬元，價格不斐，就是要打造美好閱讀環境。

總為書展帶來人潮的動漫展，今年改為"動漫區"。但開幕第一天，因為和南港展覽館的台北動漫節打對台，讓人潮不如以往。而且規模也沒有比台北動漫節大。

為期六天的台北書展，在台北世貿一館、三館舉辦。
