黨大會軍售
正在美國佛州舉行的共和黨大會，昨天通過2012年共和黨黨綱，除了強調反對兩岸任何一方、片面改變台海現狀，羅姆尼競選團隊也指出，羅姆尼傾向同意對台出售新型F16戰機，對此，參與黨大會的台灣兩黨人士都表示，這對台灣是個好消息。
美國共和黨總統參選人羅姆尼團隊在【美國國家安全政策未來】研討會中，表明羅姆尼支持台灣關係法，反對歐巴馬不賣台灣F-16 C/D型戰機的立場。讓在底下聆聽，參與此次黨大會的台灣代表團，心情為之一振。

為台灣代表團的民進黨立委葉宜津則表示，共和黨一向對台灣友好，如今在出售防衛性武器上、幾乎有了肯定答案，確實令人開心。

“其實台灣和美國主流價值是一致，我們都是講求他們一再強調的，人權、民主、自由，所以我們很高興，可以繼續跟美國保持友好的關係”
不過這些軍售台灣的承諾能不能、會不會兌現，還得先看共和黨能不能贏了大選這關才行。
Fiery speeches are gaining the most attention at the Republican National Convention in the U.S., where Mitt Romney was named the party’s presidential nominee. But behind the scenes important policy meetings are taking place. In one, the Romney team threw its support behind selling Taiwan the advanced F-16 C/D fighter jets it covets.
At a U.S. security policy meeting, the Romney team said the presidential candidate supports the Taiwan Relations Act. The team also said Romney opposes the Obama administration’s decision not to sell advanced F-16 C/D fighter jets to Taiwan. These positions are supported by the Taiwanese politicians who are attending the Republican National Convention.

I get the feeling that Romney has greater support for our defense needs than the Democratic Party. I think it’s good news.
The opposition DPP also sent a representative to the convention. DPP Legislator Yeh Yi-jin says the Republican Party has always been a strong supporter of Taiwan. She is pleased it is willing to sell more advanced defensive weapons systems to the island.

Taiwan and the United States share the same essential values. We seek what they have always emphasized: human rights, democracy and freedom. So we are very happy to maintain our friendly relations with the United States.
But the Republican Party has a difficult election cycle ahead of it before it can consider carrying through with its promises.
