Alishan cherry blossom season starts with a third of cherry trees in bloom (2014/03/10)

Alishan’s cherry blossom season is officially underway. As expected many tourists headed up the mountain to take in the beautiful scenes. 

Alishan has been transformed into a floral paradise. Tourists from China are delighted by the scene.

Today was the official start of Alishan’s cherry blossom season. The scene was spectacular, especially for those riding on the forest train. The whole area was wrapped in a sort of poetic atmosphere, truly worthy of the trip up the mountain. 

“Getting up at 5:30 to go outside was truly worth it. This year’s cherry blossoms are really beautiful.”

There are many types of cherry trees on Alishan. The most popular is the Yoshino cherry tree.

At the moment, between 50 and 60 percent of the Yoshino cherry trees are in bloom. We welcome everyone to visit Alishan.

The Yoshino cherry trees are expected to be in full bloom on March 20. Alsihan has a total of 3,000 cherry trees of differing varieties, with about a third currently in bloom.
