First Big League K
In his third major league appearance on Sunday, Taiwanese pitcher Wang Wei-chung began with a strikeout, the first of his big league career. With a fastball topping out at 96 miles per hour, Wang needed just 13 pitches to retire all three batters he faced. Wang’s Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Chicago Cubs 4:0 but retained the best record in baseball.

Strong Start for Wang
Another Taiwanese pitcher who overcame a bad last outing was Wang Chien-ming. Starting for the Cincinnati Reds Triple A affiliate on Sunday, Wang faced the Toronto Blue Jays Triple A team that he played for last season. Over eight innings Wang threw 95 pitches, 70 for strikes, and gave up just one run. He also recorded six strikeouts on the way to his second win of the season.

Monkey Pride
In the Taiwan professional baseball league the Lamigo Monkeys have been off to a stellar start to the season. Ticket sales not only rank first in the league but also are a third better than the same period last year. The Monkeys are also in first place. In a Sunday doubleheader against the Brother Elephants the Monkeys packed more than 10,000 fans into the stadium for both games, pulling in ticket revenues of over NT$7 million. They also pulled off two close victories to make it four wins in a row.

桃猿第一名
桃猿隊經過開季一個月來的考驗，不但票房高居第一，跟去年同期相比，大幅成長了35%，戰績也遙遙領先。昨天桃猿在主場進行對中信兄弟的單日雙重賽，都擠進一萬多名球迷，一天光是門票就進帳七百萬，而且還分別以六比五和二比一贏球，拿下4連勝，面子裡子都賺飽飽。
